So this app I wrote about a year ago turns your Kindle into a touchscreen/paper with all the basic features: copy/paste/cut, undo/redo, italics/bold.
I might have been one of the first to get a viable app out of ChatGPT's forge, but I was also one of the first to fall victim to the pitfalls of that approach. An app felt so good, so instead of launching a MVP at once, I started tweaking it, making it better, procrastinating over the name, the icon etc.
And because the app was written in Swift, a language I don’t know at all, it soon became unusable, in subtle, but very annoying ways.
So here’s a nearly-basic version, please test and provide feedback. I believe this app gives any serious writer an immense advantage, and a creator/influencer could finally stop seeing influencing as a grind and a drag and start seeing it as an art.
If this app does indeed change how you write, please tip me so I can finally learn Swift and make this app as good as it should properly be.
I’ve almost forgotten to say how it’s supposed to work. You open an app (on Mac or iPhone), you see local IP address at the bottom. You open that IP in a Kindle mobile browser. You now have a touchable paper in front of you.
It’s not been properly tested on Mac, so the best setup is an iPhone, a Kindle (or, supposedly, any other ebook reader) and a Bluetooth keyboard. But you don’t need a keyboard to know if this will work, and if your phone’s speech recognition is good, you might not need the keyboard at all.
